Donald Trump has been informed he can testify earlier than a grand jury in Manhattan as a part of an investigation into hush cash paid to an grownup movie star who stated she’d slept with the previous president, in response to two of his attorneys.

Trump was not subpoenaed and isn't being compelled to seem within the Manhattan District Lawyer's workplace probe, the protection attorneys informed NBC Information on Thursday. Trump's attorneys didn't point out whether or not he would testify.

The New York Instances reported Thursday that Trump was informed he might seem earlier than the grand jury subsequent week, and cited sources saying the DA's workplace had signaled to Trump's attorneys that he might face prison prices.

A spokesperson for the DA's workplace declined to remark to NBC Information.

In a press release Thursday, a spokesperson for Trump blasted the workplace, casting any potential indictment as a political assault.

“The Manhattan District Lawyer’s risk to indict President Trump is solely insane. For the previous 5 years, the DA’s workplace has been on a Witch Hunt, investigating each facet of President Trump‘s life, and so they’ve come up empty at each flip — and now this," the spokesperson stated. "The truth that after their intensive investigation the DA is even contemplating a brand new political assault is a transparent exoneration of President Trump in all areas."

NBC Information reported in January that prosecutors in New York had convened a grand jury of their investigation into hush cash paid to the grownup movie actress Stormy Daniels through the 2016 presidential marketing campaign.

The yearslong investigation into Trump over the cost has spanned spanned the phrases of two district attorneys, with Alvin Bragg taking the helm of the workplace and the probe in 2021.
