BRASILIA — Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva mentioned on Wednesday his intelligence companies had failed on Jan. 8, when Brasilia buildings have been stormed by supporters of far-right former President Jair Bolsonaro.
The contemporary remarks come as Lula’s criticism of the navy mounts, with the commander-in-chief condemning it in current days for failing to behave in opposition to the rioting Bolsonaro supporters.
“We made an elementary mistake: my intelligence didn't exist (that day),” Lula advised TV channel GloboNews in an interview. “We've got Military intelligence, Air Drive intelligence, ABIN (Brazil’s Intelligence Company); none of them warned me.”
