A Ryanair flight from Poland was escorted by fighter jets to Athens following a bomb risk.
The flight FR6385 from Katowice in Poland landed in El. Venizelos, Greece earlier this night.
The Boeing 737-800 was seen parked in a distant space of the airport after the pilot reported a severe risk in the course of the flight.
An airport spokesperson mentioned ‘all individuals are effectively and secure’ AirLive has reported.
Hungarian fighter jets have been scrambled to intercept the aircraft till it reached North Macedonia.
Then F-16 battle jets from Hellenic Air Power escorted the airliner till it landed in Athens.
Police and firefighters surrounded the aircraft after it landed at a distant spot on the airport and was inspected by the bomb squad, ANA, a Greek information company, reported.
Passengers have been taken off the aircraft and searched, in addition to their baggage and the plane itself.
The Greek fighter jets intercepted the aircraft because it entered Greek airspace above North Macedonia, the Greek Defence Ministry mentioned.
It's unclear the place the origin of the bomb risk got here from however it's thought to have been made shortly after the aircraft left Poland.
