Ad agencies are looking to fill hundreds of open positions even as an economic slowdown threatens marketing spending.

But ad agencies and holding companies largely don't share salary information, and employees often don't know what their colleagues make.

All employers have to file paperwork with the US Department of Labor's Office of Foreign Labor Certification when hiring internationally. The agency releases that information — including updated salaries — each quarter.

Insider analyzed government data for the past three fiscal quarters to see what some of the industry's biggest players pay employees. This information only concerns international hires and base salary, though most agencies offer bonuses and some provide equity.

Salaries include up to $275,000 for creative director at Omnicom to $168,000 for project directors at WPP.
