Waves caused by Hurricane Dorian are washing up bricks of cocaine on Florida beaches

• Hurricane Dorian blew past the eastern coast of Florida earlier this week, stirring up waves and causing bricks of cocaine to wash up on two Florida beaches.
• Police found a brick of cocaine at Paradise Beach Park, as well as a duffel bag filled with 15 kilos of cocaine on Cocoa Beach 20 miles north.

Police found multiple bricks of cocaine on two Florida beaches after waves caused by Hurricane Dorian are thought to have pushed them ashore.

An officer from the Melbourne Police Department inspected a suspicious package "wrapped in a way that was consistent with narcotics" after a beach-goer at the Paradise Beach Park flagged it to him, a spokeswoman from the department told NBC News. 

A photo of the brick shows the brick with the letters "D-I-A-M-A-N-T" visible. The brick — which testing determined was a kilo of cocaine — would be destroyed, the spokeswoman told NBC News.

CBS News reported that 25 kilos of cocaine had been found at Coco Beach, which is 20 miles north of where the other brick was found. NBC News reported that 15 bricks of cocaine were found in a duffel bag and were handed over to US Customs and Border Patrol.

A representative from the Melbourne Police Department did not immediately respond to calls from Insider for comment.

Hurricane Dorian blew past the eastern coast of Florida earlier this week, pelting the area with rain and wind. The storm is now bringing hurricane conditions to the coast of Georgia and is expected to reach the Carolinas between Wednesday night and Friday morning.
