LONDON — Donald Trump will be met by the image of a giant penis mowed into land on the approach to Stansted Airport, as he arrives in the UK for his first state visit.

The image, which is accompanied by the message "Oi Trump"  was left by 18-year old student, and entrepreneur Ollie Nancarrow, who constructed the protest at his parent's home in Hatfield Heath, in response to the president's views on climate change.

"Guess who's been busy today mowing a stiff message for Trump under the Stansted flightpath..." Nancarrow tweeted.

"Please share and let's see how far we can spread the welcome!"

Nancarrow left a separate image of a polar bear with the message "climate change is real," in an adjacent field.

The protest comes ahead of a controversial three-day visit by the president to the UK, which began with Trump intervening in the upcoming contest to replace Theresa May as prime minister.

Trump praised the former Foreign Secretary, and frontrunner for the job, Boris Johnson in interviews for the Sun and Sunday Times and criticised May's handling of Brexit.

On Monday the president will travel to Buckingham Palace where he will dine for a full state banquet with the Queen and senior members of Theresa May's government.

Opposition leaders Jeremy Corbyn and Vince Cable have both boycotted the dinner in protest at Trump.

The House of Commons Speaker John Bercow, who previously banned the president from addressing Parliament during his trip, will also not be in attendance.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan will also not be in attendance, after labelling Trump's rhetoric akin to that of "the fascists of the 20th century."

Trump hit back comparing the London mayor unfavourably to New York Mayor Bill de Blasio. Ahead of arriving in London, Trump said of Khan: "I don't think much of him.

"He's the twin of de Blasio except shorter."

Large protests are scheduled in central London against Trump on Tuesday with a giant blimp of the president depicted in a nappy, set to make a second appearance, following his first trip to the UK as president last year.
